Do you know how magical an evening in desert can be?! 😊
I got the chance twice. Leaving late in evening with a jeep and some good friends. Heading towards a Bedouin village to have a BBQ and enjoy the silence and watch stars.
After we got picked up (all very excited) we were heading into the desert. Yes we had a lot of fun as he was driving a little crazy and we were shaked very well. But finally after around 45 min we arrived at the village were the Bedouins already expected us. We passed the food to them so they could prepare it while we were sitting together, having a cup of chai (Black tea with a lot of sugar), talking and if one liked having a shisha.
It takes a little time to get used to the darkness as there is not light. You only have some candles burning. The total silence just broken by talking to each other is amazing.
After a while the Bedouins are bringing all the food. We got some Kofta, Egytian Rice, cucumbers, tomatoes, eggplants, chicken but also some fruits such as dates, melons and banana (Egyptian Bananas, such a huge difference to the one you can buy in Europe). We enjoyed the late BBQ so much and after finishing we were just enjoying watching the stars. If there is no moon you can see the stars so clearly and you can also see the mars and the milky way. It´s really breathtaking to see the beauty of nature. You simply can´t get enough of it. While you are watching the stars another cup of Chai is prepared alternative would be a cup of hot karkade (hibiscus flower tea). When you finished your tea it´s almost time to get back home and leave the silence.
If you ever get the chance to experience something like that – never ever turn the over down.
