Did you also get those information from your travel agent or from your governmental page that it´s always better to stay at the hotel and not leave it to see more about the city and the country?! π€
When I booked the first trip with my sister to Egypt one of the first information we got was don´t leave the hotel on your own. It could be quiet dangerous. – Yes we believed it and it was a little scary to arrive at night. On the way to the hotel we saw some police control points where the police officers are staying with guns. We are not used to see things like that in Germany. π We still went out of the hotel at least close to the hotel and to be honest… we really missed out on a lot of things.
On the second holiday, I went alone I got to see a lot more of this beautiful country and I realized it´s not scary at all to walk in the streets Hurghada. To be honest… yes it can be annoying if almost every shop owner is trying to get you into his shop but stay friendly, say no and just move on. π
I decided to move to Hurghada and yes I really enjoy living here. I´m walking through the streets, I talk the normal taxis and do our shopping alone and yes I deal with internet providers, tour operator etc.
Just a couple of weeks ago some Family members have been here on holidays and one of the first question asked was: Is it safe to leave the hotel and talk a walk?! – My reply was: No, not at all…. better lock yourself up at the hotel room and just stay at the hotel property. ππ I tried to stay serious but it was really hard so I started to laugh out loud π I say please don´t lock yourself, go out, get to know the people around you. If you like to go to Daher, let me know and we will join you and show you around. You want to go for a quad ride?! No Problem. Everything is possible. Don´t be afraid. The worst thing that could happen is that someone is inviting you for a cup of chai.
